Flea Market Style

The new Flea Market Style 2012 magazine is now out on the stands! I have had the opportunity again to be a team player of this great magazine. The  sewing skills that I possess have led me to be able to play a small part in the makings of this creative and fun magazine.

The Flour Power story on page 102 was one of my favorite stories. This story was all about vintage flour sacks and how they could be repurposed and used in today's living. This ugly TV tray turned cute night stand makeover was one of the projects I worked on in this story. Once the photo was taken for the magazine, the TV tray cover was returned to me where I repurposed it again into a very practical Flea Market apron.

This apron along with other aprons can be found for sale in my Etsy shop Remixed Stitches. As for all those ruffles from the TV tray, I already have plans for them but you'll just have to wait and see. While you're looking at those aprons in my Etsy shop you might want to take a gander at some of the other items that I have listed. If you've read the Flour Power story from the magazine some of those items might look just a bit familiar.

Want to know more about this amazing magazine?  Check out the Flea Market Style blog where you can get first hand information on the magazine.

Welcome To My World Of Sewing!

Welcome to my world of sewing!

With the Junk Bonanza just 7 weeks away my world has been turned upside down with sewing. I'll be selling my Shopping Cart Liners and the Pretty Pockets craft/vendor aprons in the Junk Revolution store again this year. Last year I completely sold out of  both liners and aprons. This year promises to be even better with  both items having a new and improved design that is sure to be more user friendly.

Sneak peek of a new apron waiting to be finished!

If you really want to see more, click on the apron picture to the right of this blog. I have listed a few aprons on my Etsy site for "Early Bird" purchase. No two aprons will be exactly alike. Lots of pockets, and two secure zipper pockets for money and valuables.

The two machines that make the magic happen!

The one woman show behind those two machines!
(Yes Martha, I do wear pearls while sewing.......lol)

See you at the Junk Bonanza........Yee Haw!!!!  Karla

What's On Santa's Junking List ?

Santa and me

Santa's List
All Purpose Apron

1. Pretty Pockets All Purpose Apron

All Purpose Apron

In our family I was gifted with the sewing gene and my sister Ki was gifted with the vintage junking gene. One day we brainstormed on how to put our two talents together. Crack, Snap, Pop,! The pretty pockets all purpose apron was born. We showcased the apron at Ki's annual Junk Bonanza 2010 show. With all the different uses (gardening, concession stand use, garage sales, crafting, and flea marketing to name a few) the aprons were a HUGE success and  sold out within the first day of the sale. Fast Forward....Santa's Elf Karla has been busily sewing away so Santa's Helper Ki could put it back on Santa's  list and offer them for sale on her website for holiday gift giving.

Shopping Cart Liner
2. Shopping cart liner

Shopping Cart Liner

Last year Santa's Helper Ki had a lot of recycled burlap " toy" (coffee bean) bags left after the Christmas  deliveries. Once again Ki and I put our sewing and junking genes together and created a shopping cart liner for those "shop a holics" of garage sales and flea markets. Santa's Elf  Karla got busy sewing and Santa's Helper Ki was able to list them on Santa's list and offer them on her website. To check out other cool "junking gifts" that are on Santa's list go to the Junk Revolution Store.

Sew Happy,

Karla
