<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I've just returned home to Florida from my sister Ki's Fall Junk Bonanza in Minnesota. Great times were had with plentiful vintage shopping, yummy eats and hanging out with friends. Click on the link above to learn more about this fun event.</span></div>
<h1>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">History of the Bonanza</span></h1>
<h2>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The Bonanza has its roots in the simple act of cleaning out a junk-stuffed garage.</span></h2>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">And the resounding success of Ki Nassauer’s epic garage cleansing prompted her to found JUNKMARKET. The monthly sale in Long Lake, Minn., became “the” place shoppers could count on finding vintage treasures and Ki’s special, repurposed junk creations . Which led her to wonder: Wouldn’t it be fun to direct the energy it took to produce the monthly sales toward one annual blowout extravaganza? Thus, in 2006, the Bonanza was born!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The Bonanza has since expanded, showcasing biannual Fall and Spring shows at Canterbury Park, south of Minneapolis, and has added new venues near Portland, Ore., and San Diego, Calif. Each event is a special shopping experience for those who thrill to the hunt.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Attendees can browse spectacular displays of exceptional and wonderfully priced vintage and antique wares from hand-picked vendors. No reproductions allowed! The Bonanza is a powerful junking and networking experience, and offers special activities, giveaways, prizes and more to extend the fun.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana;"></span><br />

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">With a slight drizzle of rain, the 1000+ Early Bird Ticket holders started lining up at 6:30am for the Fall 2015 Junk Bonanza. With the doors opening up at 8:00am for Early Birds only, they were guaranteed two hours of crowd free shopping and first dibs on unique vintage goods.</span><br />

He again showed no fear only interest and promptly examined the new member to

passing over to the Rainbow Bridge. Oliver was now 15 and sleeping more than he

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Spring weather was in the air and the customers came to shop all the great items we had in the shop. Once again I sold out of my purses, aprons, and shopping cart liners that I had sewn for purchase in the store. With more room in my suitcase I was able to purchase some great vintage fabric finds among the different vendors to take back home to Florida. Great show, fun people and cool junk!! Can't wait for the <a href="http://junkbonanza.com/">Junk Bonanza</a> fall 2015. I'll be there.</span></div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Greyhound Crusier #6 taught me that Greyhounds do get cold even in Fl because of their low body fat (less than 16%, less than half the amount of dogs of a similar weight in other breeds), they can not metabolize anesthesia well, they can live to be 12-14 years old, do not have any inherent health problems which some of the larger breeds experience and are often used as blood donors because of their higher red blood cell count. Cruiser, an older gentleman, greyhound has now been adopted into a forever loving greyhound friendly home. Not only are the greyhounds friendly but the volunteers as well!</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Curbside Pickings on our street this past summer have been plentiful. Wednesday, early morning, is garbage pickup day. The cans go out Tuesday night, with one can for recycling, one for trash, one for yard waste and a pile for miscellaneous. DBH and I walk our dogs, am and pm down our street so our eyes are always on the lookout for the pickings left curbside.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana;"></span> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTQXQSlliz4Bc0rsg31X03dI4c2q4XFBbgy0Dbh8bLhv5lJpp35q0uU2siUFZwE1qtHXIs1mW9RFFr1xYTDC2Rh11fqBWrf0O_4ShBazMtEqVtRtCet9M9QtA0FZ8wdA1dgHqVk5GHk8Py/s1600/PicMonkey+Collage+dumpster+table.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTQXQSlliz4Bc0rsg31X03dI4c2q4XFBbgy0Dbh8bLhv5lJpp35q0uU2siUFZwE1qtHXIs1mW9RFFr1xYTDC2Rh11fqBWrf0O_4ShBazMtEqVtRtCet9M9QtA0FZ8wdA1dgHqVk5GHk8Py/s1600/PicMonkey+Collage+dumpster+table.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This table was one of our biggest scores this summer. Neighbor Ed had set it out for trash pickup. We were walking the dogs that morning as the garbage truck turned down our street. I told DBH to run and check the table out to see if it was real wood. Just as he got there the garbage man was getting ready to throw it in the cruncher, without looking at it DBH grabbed it from him. We brought it home to check it out. On the underside was a stamping that read: SOLID CHERRY. Yahoo we hit the jackpot. We didn't need another coffee table so I put on my thinking cap while DBH started disassembling it. It was a few weeks before I came up with an idea.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7zBpnLRY4qtf28haCwHrv1xlsGWsmjxTe1kAngEin2vz_k5bJrIlYbO4k3QHzs-uGa95hYRsH-GzR32jhRANHT28vx8CN-IW7q96pI3Pi_A_sRuWL8Ye85OIICPlNzmrQxYt__s72LyIu/s1600/PicMonkey+Collage+dumpster+table2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7zBpnLRY4qtf28haCwHrv1xlsGWsmjxTe1kAngEin2vz_k5bJrIlYbO4k3QHzs-uGa95hYRsH-GzR32jhRANHT28vx8CN-IW7q96pI3Pi_A_sRuWL8Ye85OIICPlNzmrQxYt__s72LyIu/s1600/PicMonkey+Collage+dumpster+table2.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Our guest bedroom had been lacking nightstands by the bed. DBH cut the coffee table top in half for the two tops of the night stands, he used the coffee table apron wood for the sides and drawers and only had to buy wood for the legs as we needed 8 legs and the table only had four. When he was done the only thing we had left from that coffee table were those four legs. Volunteering at a greyhound rescue, I learned that the taller/larger dog breeds use raised feeders to eat. The leftover legs were perfect for a raised dog feeder. DBH made a feeder using those legs and the proceeds of it's sale will be donated to the greyhound rescue. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana;">We invited our neighbor Ed down to see what we had made with his thrown out coffee table. He was amazed that it looked so good. The table had been in his family for 40 years and was so scratched up that he didn't think it had any life left in it. I think he was having second thoughts about it... </span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana;">Our neighbor Sherry and her husband Hugh were moving. She had grown tired of these Florida style chairs so Hugh was carrying them out to the curb for garbage day while I just happened to be driving by. I had been searching for some new dining room chairs but just couldn't justify spending the money when the chairs we had were okay. These chairs were a big upgrade from our current chairs. The style wasn't what I had in mind but they were free. I grabbed them, touched up some scratches and got a bargain on some new fabric for seat cushions (which I haven't done yet). The style is growing on me and they are a lot more comfortable than our old chairs. After talking with Sherry I figured I saved about a thousand bucks after hearing what she paid for them. Thanks Sherry for the chairs!</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana;">Neighbor Bill and his wife Elizabeth from across the street were also moving. I could keep an eye on any curbside pickings from their house thorough my sewing room window. I spotted these wood boxes one day and sent DBH over to check them out. Not sure what I was going to do with them but they were made out of great rough sawn cedar wood with nails that had discolored on the sides. They needed a good scrubbing which I did before bringing them inside. I set them in this spot in the great room so I could ponder on what to do with them. Then I had one of those AHA moments! So simple and no tools required.</span></div>

<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Verdana","sans-serif";">Even though
I was raised in the cold winter state of Minnesota, I was never a “winter” kind
of girl. After living in Florida for some twenty years I found myself to be
quite happy and proclaiming I would never live in a cold weather state again….
Florida suited me well. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<span style="font-family: "Verdana","sans-serif";">Fast forward through a divorce and a new
marriage, I found myself moving with the new DBH back to his home state of
Michigan. The winter months now found me taking up sewing once again after a
twenty year hiatus. The year was 1999 when I decided to teach myself how to sew
Teddy Bears. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: "Verdana","sans-serif";">With sister
<a href="http://www.kinassauer.com/">Ki Nassauer </a>preaching about reclaiming, reusing, and repurposing, I started sewing
Teddies with that in mind. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Hunting the
local Antique/thrift stores, I began to gather a collection of mink stoles,
mink coats, black curly lamb’s wool coats, vintage fabrics and even some army

50 miles to take a class with a well-known Teddy Bear seamstress.</span></div>

Our goal for the New Year was to buy a house and be settled by Christmas 2013. Well, we did it! Warm temperatures and no snow on the Cape made outside Holiday decorating a snap!</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Yahoo! The long awaited winter issue of Flea Market Style is finally available for purchase. Even though Editor- in - Chief, Ki Nassauer is my sister extraordinaire, I have to wait just like everyone else to see the finished published magazine. Yes, I do have clues of what some of the creative projects will be the magazine. In fact I even get involved in some of the sewing projects.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> </span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The magazine can be found at book stores, grocery stores and big discount stores like Walmart. Love this magazine,I find it so refreshing to pick up a magazine that is chock full of ideas and content with very few ads. Here's a peek at two of the articles in the magazine.</span></div>

<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">In this story, I was involved in a sewing project or two. It turned out to be one of my favorite stories in the magazine. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiW79hkMRV6r5WLTNtAooJ8rvWMFPWq8KxE9YotIyzqeyCt9i6LhTGetO1VVaD6dZEqRVQV1NOemCOAfidC0E3l1n8Uv2xDLipWzM0JUcxQl8T2bUiIJ2zOk-DCzIxEmLcxU0ueXBUAuH5B/s1600/FMS+BLOG+2+003RP.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiW79hkMRV6r5WLTNtAooJ8rvWMFPWq8KxE9YotIyzqeyCt9i6LhTGetO1VVaD6dZEqRVQV1NOemCOAfidC0E3l1n8Uv2xDLipWzM0JUcxQl8T2bUiIJ2zOk-DCzIxEmLcxU0ueXBUAuH5B/s320/FMS+BLOG+2+003RP.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I love all the plaid. Can you guess what sewing project I did for this story? If you guessed the dog sweater you were correct. I had the dog's measurements, a pattern, two repurposed sweaters from a thrift store, and vintage army webbing and patches to complete this fun winter sweater. Being a good boy for the photo shoot, he was given his winter sweater for those cold Minnesota winters where he lives. I think it turned out pretty darn cute. What do you think?</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The second sewing project for this story was a simple sewing project that even the novice sewer could easily sew. Two repurposed plaid blankets from a thrift store where sewn together to create a fun stripped/fringed drape that could also be used as a bed covering. </span><br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The magazine also featured a fun shopping section where you could shop for sweet creations made with vintage and upcycled fabrics. In this article my</span><a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/RemixedStitches?section_id=10315509"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> Remixed Stitches</span></a><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> Etsy shop was featured showing one of my fun half aprons that I sell there.</span></div>

<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Also on the news stands now is the BIG Collector's edition that has the all time favorite Vintage Style homes and collection trends from past issues of Flea Market Style all gathered together in one magazine. This Collector's edition is a great coffee table magazine, that you'll want to refer back to time and time again. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Flea Market Style, Spring, is now in the works. Will I have sewing projects in this one? Time will tell,</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">My sister Ki of <a href="http://www.fleamarketstylemag.blogspot.com/">Flea Market Style</a> invited me to tag along with her this past week for a magazine signing of the latest issue of <a href="http://www.fleamarketstylemag.blogspot.com/">Flea Market Style magazine</a> at Lori's <a href="http://www.fancyflea.net/">Fancy Flea</a> event in Plant City FL. Going to flea markets with Ki is always a fun and educational time, so I said YES! We arrived in Lakeland FL Friday night to find their downtown square alive with a car show, bandstand entertainment, open stores, yummy food, and local business owners plugging their services. Old historic houses, buildings and small lakes outlined the perimeter of the square. I made a mental note to take DBH to visit this lovely city again.</span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana;">On Saturday,we arrived early at the Strawberry Festival show grounds to help Lori and her team set up the <a href="http://www.fancyflea.net/">Fancy Flea</a> tent in Plant City, FL where Ki would be signing her magazines. Lori had her own personalized pink Fancy Flea golf cart to drive around to help her attend to her 400 vendors and shoppers needs quickly.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Unfortunately the morning rain showed up, but the crowds still came with open umbrellas of all different sizes and colors. One vendor humoured us and wore his rubber duck around his waist. The hardy Flea Market Musketeers took it all in stride and made the best of it. For those that stuck it out, there were great finds and even better bargains to be had. By lunch time the rain had stopped. <a href="http://www.kinassauer.com/">Ki </a>continued to sign magazines through all this and we both met a lot of really nice people from all over FL. </span><span style="font-family: Verdana;">Lori's next Fancy Flea event will be April 26th, 2014. <span style="font-family: Verdana;">I thought you might enjoy seeing some behind the scenes pictures that I've taken over the years of the bi annual <a href="http://www.junkbonanza.com/"><strong>Junk Bonanza</strong></a> event at Canterbury Park in Shakopee MN. Click on the link below the picture to get the scoop on the event's times, location, vendors and admission. Words can not even begin to describe the work and energy that goes into making this a fabulous fun event. <br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It was on a junking trip in Michigan back in the mid 90's with my sister Ki that I found this vintage special at "Michigan Man's (aka Allen) junkyard nirvana. Rusty, Crusty and weighing in at about 25lbs, I bought my first piece of "Iron", as they say in the junking world.</div>

Michigan House #1</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
When I brought it home DBH just shook his head and asked "What in the heck are YOU going to do with that?" I explained to him that he was going to make me a frame to insert the iron into the center. With high vaulted ceilings it would look great over our sliding doors to our porch. He made the frame, I painted it white. Purchasing heavy wall anchors to hold what was now a 40 something pound 26"h x 68" w monstrosity we hung it together where it lived for 10 years.</div>

Florida House #2</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
It was time for DBH to retire and we moved to Florida. With vaulted ceilings and a sliding glass door, no thinking was required on where the "Iron" piece would hang in this house. It lived above this door for 5 years.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Florida House #3</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
It was time again for a change in our lives, so we packed our belongings and moved further south. Though our new house had high ceilings it also had tall sliding glass doors leaving no room for the "Iron" to hang above it. After 15 years this imported piece of German wrought iron now held a special place in my heart and our home. Where could it hang? Then I had an ah ha!! moment. DBH painted the frame gray and we poly coated the iron to preserve the rust.</div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYr-2TqhHzAS0Sy9qz1HMHZOVoXJ_fIIkG2m4Srn88YJh5IHvk76g-lTNfGi5sg6TV8ETUO9jUuRSg5eRCBeUiJSMPZtylUx2YJy0fc17a4uzsD0HNaeH2qwBjH9_B076RdbfTcRRnF-aI/s1600/cape+bathrooms.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYr-2TqhHzAS0Sy9qz1HMHZOVoXJ_fIIkG2m4Srn88YJh5IHvk76g-lTNfGi5sg6TV8ETUO9jUuRSg5eRCBeUiJSMPZtylUx2YJy0fc17a4uzsD0HNaeH2qwBjH9_B076RdbfTcRRnF-aI/s320/cape+bathrooms.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div align="center">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">What came first the double sinks or the monstrous arch? </span></div>
<div align="center">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span> </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The design might have worked if there had only been one sink plunked down in the middle of the vanity. But no, a master bath should have two sinks, his and hers right? So a 6' swirly pink cultured marble vanity with two clam shell shaped sinks was installed into the space. Next came the "Designer" feature, a well built arch with recessed spots for over the vanity. If you were 4' tall no problem, your head cleared the arches without hitting, but DBH and I are both over 4' tall so there was a HUGE problem while using the sinks. After knocking our heads hard several times while using the sinks, the monstrous arch had to go!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Arch be gone!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">DBH handed me a hammer and let me have the first whack at it, just like on the home improvement shows on TV. They make it look so easy! I handed the hammer back to DBH and told him to "go at it". We tried to save the pink vanity to donate to Habitat for Humanity, figuring it was a vintage classic, but it was not going to let us take it out all in one piece. Breaking it in half made the several hundred pound vanity more manageable. </span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">With the demo complete, we let the professionals install the cabinets, granite and plumbing fixtures. DBH has learned over the years of remodeling that plumbing is best left to the professional. I scoured the stores for just the right accessories. <span style="font-family: Verdana;">To me, the heart of the home is the kitchen, our 1995 pink and white kitchen was in dire need of a major change. </span></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">So we started at the heart of this home, white appliances were donated to charity, white cabinets were re purposed for DBH's workshop, and construction debris was hauled away to the construction landfill.</span></div>

<div align="center" style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana;">The year 2012 will be remembered as "The Year of Change". It was the year that DBH and I sat down and looked at each other and asked "Are we still enjoying our chosen lifestyle?" </span><span style="font-family: Verdana;">The answer we both gave was a firm NO! It had been five years since, we retired from MI, and built/moved into our dream house in warm sunny Florida. The everyday physical work of keeping up a small hobby farm was taking a toll on our bodies, and mind. It was time for a change. I looked at DBH and said "WATER!" He looked at me and said "WATER!" We listed the farm for sale and had a contract within two weeks with a closing date set right before Christmas. We'd be homeless for Christmas.</span> </div>

<div align="center">
</div>
<div align="left">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">With family living on Marco Island and in Fort Myers FL, the search for a home began closer to those areas. We focused in on Cape Coral, a town with over 400 miles of canal waterways with access to the gulf and river. With help from our <a href="http://www.capecoralhomes.com/"><span style="color: red;">Sellstate realtor Diane Folwer</span></a>, we found our next home. It was nestled into a small community of homes, within easy walking distance to a 200 acre ecological park and two miles from shopping. Though the house needed updating it had good "bones". </span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">DBH and I had found our WATER! right out the back door. With an easy ten minute boat ride to the river and a bit longer ride to the gulf, we look forward to the day when we can take "the yet to be purchased" boat out. For now, we are happy remodeling the house with many breaks taken to "enjoy just another day in Paradise" on our lanai overlooking the water.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana;"></span> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana;">Future remodeling updates will follow. Did I mention? My "new" sewing room is 5 feet bigger than my past sewing room, has a ten foot ceiling and HUGE windows to let the light shine in. A sewers dream in paradise:)</span></div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Over the years DBH and I have been blessed to be able to provide a safe and loving home to many large mixed breed rescue dogs. When Brooke our last large rescue dog passed on, we decided to rescue a smaller dog. That's when Mia, a 5lb Toy Fox Terrier, came into our lives and changed us forever. She sparked my sewing gene and I made "cute doggie harnesses " for her. She took DBH to doggie obedience school where they graduated with the smallest dog honors. She even got the cat involved in games of chase. Sadly, she unexpectedly passed away this year and left a void in your household. </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">After a few months, we started attending adoption days at the local pet stores looking for a small rescue dog in need of a safe and loving home. We met Mary and Tulip of </span><a href="http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/FL177.html"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Pet Network Inc.</span></a><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> (a local grass roots no kill rescue shelter) at one of these adoption days.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> Tulip was a stray underweight Yorkie found living under an abandoned mobile home. A neighbor was able to catch her before the big bad dogs roaming the neighborhood made a meal out of her. With all that Tulip had been through she was still able to dole out pet store kisses to all the potential adopters at the pet store. We took her home on the foster/adopt program. She ate well even though she only had two teeth left. Soon, she was up to a normal weight of 5lbs. She was a senior dog who walked slow and was perfectly content to sit in laps all day long. As much as we loved her, it was decided that we were to active for her so we continued to foster her until the perfect home could be found for her. When Beverly (a potential adopter with a walker) came to meet her, we knew right away that this could be a great match between the two of them. Tulip is now on a 2 week trial adoption with Beverly that Pet Network Inc. offers to it's potential adopters. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I volunteered at pet adoption day this past Saturday with Mister an 8 mo. old puppy from an unwanted litter (please spay/nueter your pets)and sister/brother Della & Perry, bottle fed kittens who lost their mother to a car accident. It was Mister's first time out and he worked on his social skills and did well. Perry was a bit stressed and hung out in his litter box while Della was the social "Queen" of them all. No adoptions were made but there was interest in the three. More information can be found on these pets at: </span><a href="http://www.petfinder.com/pet-search?shelterid=FL177"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Pet Network Mister,Della, Perry</span></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Mary, the founder of Pet Network Inc, has been so kind and understanding as DBH and I travel this journey to find another dog. We have decided that Mia our past TFT has spoiled us and so our search has been narrowed down specifically to the Toy Fox Terrier Breed. Meeting all these loving compassionate animal people in these rescue groups has spurned me on to volunteering my time, whether it be working adoption day at pet stores, working the garage sales to raise much needed money to care for these pets waiting for their forever homes or lending physical labor to keep the shelters safe. These rescue shelters all need "people support" and donations to keep them going. The next time you pass a Pet Shelter donation can in your local store, drop that loose dollar or change into the can. Every little bit helps......</span><br />

<div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> Well it's not by paintbrush !! In Florida, your choice of farm fence colors seem to be white or black. Those that are into high maintenance chose white paint and those that are into low maintenance chose black. Reaching a point in our lives where low maintenance is king, we chose black. With paintbrush and paint bucket in hand I began the quest to touch up our fenced and cross fenced 3 plus acre plot. What was I thinking? One month later, I was cranky, exhausted and nowhere close to being done.</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />

<span style="font-family: Verdana;">An emergency phone call for help was put into fence painting contractor extraordinaire Ellery Smith and the the job was well on its way to being finished. Two trucks and four men showed up two days later to get the job finished.</span></div><br />

</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The Flour Power story on page 102 was one of my favorite stories. This story was all about vintage flour sacks and how they could be repurposed and used in today's living. This ugly TV tray turned cute night stand makeover was one of the projects I worked on in this story. Once the photo was taken for the magazine, the TV tray cover was returned to me where I repurposed it again into a very practical Flea Market apron.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />

As for all those ruffles from the TV tray, I already have plans for them but you'll just have to wait and see. While you're looking at those aprons in my Etsy shop you might want to take a gander at some of the other items that I have listed. If you've read the Flour Power story from the magazine some of those items might look just a bit familiar.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Check out my previous post on how we came to have this sad little desk.The story continues here: After some structural issues were addressed on our Interfaith desk, DBH faithfully started the process of giving rebirth to the $15.50 desk. The sanding, stripping, and staining began on the desk. The desk was missing some handles so we decided a trip to the <a href="http://renningers.com/dora/flaexthome2.html">Mt. Dora Extravaganza</a> was in order to replace those missing handles. </span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Off to the Flea Market we went! With some of our faith waining on our makeover Interfaith desk, we decided to keep our eyes open for a desk that might need less work and could be put to use right away. Thirty minutes into our Flea Market jaunt we found "THE DESK". Beautifully restored to it's early 1930's vintage condition , it was ready for immediate use. We purchased desk #2. Having had his fill of Flea Markets for the day, DBH and Mia headed for the truck to wait while I looked for handles for the Interfaith desk #1. </span></div><br />

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">With faith, DBH continued his work on the Interfaith Desk #1. This past week the rebirth of the $15.50 sad little desk was finally finished. DBH had once again preformed his magic in his "Hardly-Able-Workshop".</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">What do you think of DBH's make over of the sad little desk?</span><br />
<br />
